The
📍 Waar zitten jullie precies? In hartje Gent! Een gezellige plek waar comedians optreden en mensen spontaan meer calorieën verbranden door te lachen dan door te sporten. Het exacte adres staat in je bevestigingsmail — spanning moet er ook zijn.
🎟 Moet ik tickets op voorhand kopen? Graag wel. Shows lopen vaak snel vol, en door het raam naar binnen kijken is precies niet zo gezellig als binnen zitten.
⏰ Wanneer gaan de deuren open? De bar zelf opent al om 18 u de deuren. De comedyzalen openen ongeveer 30 minuten voor de show. Vroeg komen = goede plaats, drankje in de hand, en nul stress.
🎟 Moet ik mijn tickets op voorhand boeken? We raden het sterk aan. Veel shows zijn snel uitverkocht — zeker de Saturday English Shows en speciale themanachten. Online tickets kopen is de beste manier om zeker te zijn van een plaats. Je kan hopen dat iemand vergeet dat hij tickets had… maar da’s een heel klein mirakel.
🍺 Is er een bar? We zijn in België. Natuurlijk is er een bar. Drankjes, snacks en de perfecte reden om te blijven hangen na de show. Bovendien steun je ook ons echt onze club als je iets drinkt of eet.
🪑 Kan ik mijn eigen plaats kiezen? Eerste binnen = beste plek. Te laat = kleine kruk, of helemaal vooraan zitten in het vizier van de MC. Lekker eerlijk systeem.
📸 Mag ik filmen of opnemen? Zonder toestemming niet. Een comedian wil niet dat zijn materiaal zich zomaar verspreid. Dus berg die camera maar op. Als er toch camera's te zien zijn dan is dat omdat de comedians zichzelf filmen. Foto’s met vrienden vóór of na de show zijn wel oké. En tag gerust de comedians er in. (als het positief is tenminste).
♿ Is de locatie toegankelijk? De bar en de benedenzaal wel. Echter is er jammer genoeg geen toilet beneden. Dus je zal je blaas wel moeten trainen. Stuur ons gerust een bericht als je hulp nodig hebt — we zijn vriendelijke mensen.
🤣 Kan ik zelf optreden? Zeker! Schrijf je in voor onze open mic. Of schrijf je in voor een workshop met toonmoment. Ben je goed? Fantastisch. Wie weet groei je dan wel door naar groter en meer.
🎁 Verkopen jullie gift vouchers of merch? Ja! Cadeaubonnen en Amai Comedy Club keychains. Ideaal als cadeau.
💰 Tickets annuleren & terugbetalingen 🎟 Showtickets – Je kan gratis annuleren tot 48 uur op voorhand. – Binnen 48 uur zijn tickets niet terugbetaalbaar. 🎓 Workshop-tickets – Annuleren kan tot 1 week (7 dagen) voor de start. – Later dan dat = geen terugbetaling. 🤒 Wat als ik ziek word? Moet je een volledige workshopreeks (bijv. 10 lessen) stopzetten door ziekte? Stuur een doktersattest en we zoeken samen naar een oplossing. 🔄 Wat we liever doen We geven waar mogelijk liever nieuwe tickets of een waardebon dan geld terug. Zo mis je geen comedy, en onze comedians kunnen blijven eten.
📍 Where are you located? In Ghent — the beautiful city known for medieval towers, fries with too much sauce, and now: a comedy club that doesn’t let you leave without abdominal pain from laughing. The exact address is in your ticket email (mystery builds excitement).
🎤 What kind of shows do you host? Amai Comedy Club brings stand-up comedy, themed nights, open mics, improv shows, and international English shows every Saturday. We program 3–4 shows per week featuring upcoming talent and established comedians.
⏰ What time should I arrive? The bar opens at 6 PM. Doors of the comedy room generally open 30 minutes before showtime. But when it's not totally full we let everyone hang around until 5 min before the show. Arriving early gets you the best seats, a drink, and a chance to relax before the laughter begins.
🎟 Do I need to book tickets in advance? We strongly recommend it. Many shows sell out fast — especially Saturday English shows and special themed nights. Online ticketing is the best way to secure your seat. You can hope someone forgot they had tickets, but that's a long shot.
🍺 Is there a bar? Of course! We have a full bar with alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, and snacks. Buying drinks helps support the artists and the club — so we encourage a toast before the punchlines.
🪑 Can I choose my seat? Seats are first-come, first-served. For bigger groups, arrive early so you can sit together. Let us know if you have special requirements, than we can reserve a seat for you.
📸 Can I film or record the comedians? No filming or recording is allowed — it distracts performers and other guests. If you see any camera's than that this is because the comedians are taping themselves. Photos with friends before or after the show: totally fine!
♿ Is the venue accessible? Accessibility details depend on the show location. We have a downstairs room so we can change the room depending on the needs of audiences. Only disadvantage is that we don't have downstairs toilets. If you have accessibility needs, send us a message — we’re happy to help and make sure you’re comfortable.
🤣 Can I perform at Amai Comedy Club? We love new talent. Sign up for an open mic slot or send us a clip of your material. We also run workshops and development programs for beginners and working comedians. Both in improv and stand-up.
🎁 Do you sell merchandise or gift vouchers? Yes! We currently offer Amai Comedy Club keychains and gift vouchers — perfect for comedy fans. More merch is coming soon.
💰 Cancelling tickets & refunds 🎟 Regular show tickets – You can cancel up to 48 hours in advance. – Within 48 hours, tickets are non-refundable. 🎓 Workshop tickets – You can cancel up to 1 week (7 days) before the start. – After that = no refunds. 🤒 Sick or unable to continue a full workshop (e.g. 10 classes)? Send us proof (doctor’s note) and we’ll look for a fair solution. 🔄 What we prefer Whenever possible, we prefer offering new tickets or credit instead of refunds. That way, you still get to enjoy a show — and our comedians stay alive.
👶 Mag ik kinderen meenemen? Shows zijn meestal 16+. Sommige comedians gebruiken woorden die je niet wil uitleggen aan een 10-jarige (of aan je schoonmoeder). Breng je ze toch mee, dan is het op eigen risico. We organiseren af en toe shows die geschikt zijn voor kinderen, dus hou onze social media in de gaten.
🚗 Hoe zit het met parkeren? Parkeren in Gent is een avontuur vol emoties. Maar recht tegenover de bar is er wel een parking (tegen betaling). Ook Ramenparking is vlakbij. Tram, bus, fiets of stappen zijn meestal verstandiger.

👶 Are your shows suitable for kids? Most shows are 16+. Some comedians use language that doesn’t pair well with children… or sensitive adults. Sometimes we have shows that are made for children, and then you can definitely bring them.
🚗 How about parking? Parking in Ghent is an emotional adventure. But there is a paid parking lot right across from the bar. The Ramenparking is also close by. Taking the tram, bus, bike, or coming on foot is usually the smarter choice.
